Lingle's Crimes Against Neighbor Islands

• Lingle has pitted 'Oahu against the Neighbor Islands, family member against family, friend against friend by ignoring the law and pushing the unwanted Superferry over the objections of neighbor island county councils and neighbor residents.
  
  
• Lingle has ignored the needs of the neighbor islands, pushing more tourist projects onto them, taking the revenues and doing nothing to alleviate the resulting traffic, beach and park overuse.
  
  
• Lingle has held phony meetings, established impotent neighbor island advisory councils and gone through the motions of getting input from Neighbor Islands. Then she has ignored every single request that conflicts with her overall goal of political favor-currying for those she thinks will advance her national aspirations.
  
  
• After the county councils of Kaua'i, Maui and Hawai'i begged her to do an EIS so that the neighbor islands could mitigate the impacts of the Superferry, she ignored them. She ignored their problems. She refused to release funds to help with traffic. She refused to release funds to pay invasive species inspectors. She refused to help with neighbor islands' overused camping facilities. She refused to help with the influx of homeless coming on the Superferry. She refused to do anything about the people stealing from our natural resources. She refused to do anything about the gangs and drug smugglers using the Superferry.
  
  
• After the Courts ruled that Lingle had broken the law by telling the Superferry not to do an EIS, she colluded with Hawaii Superferry to move up its start date and initiate service in the 4 days between the ruling and the imposition of the injunction against operating on Maui. During the two days HSF operated, 3 truckloads of natural resources were stolen from Maui. HSF $5 fares enabled 'Oahu to dump their homeless on Maui, worsening our already dangerous homeless drug users problem.
  
  
• In those two days, Lingle precipitated huge protests on Kaua'i in which unarmed protestors faced down the Superferry. Because of protester actions, Kaua'i was spared the harm that came to Maui.
  
  
• Lingle then held a meeting on Kaua'i in which she outlined her plans to suppress first amendment rights by applying (inappropriately) terrorism laws against the peaceful citizens of Kaua'i.
  
  
• Lingle threatened to use Child Protective Services to take away the children of the protesters.
  
  
• Lingle threatened the unarmed peaceful protesters with prosecution under Homeland Security - 10 years in Federal prison and $25,000 in fines.
  
  
• Then Lingle called a special session of the Legislature, convincing them that she would be responsible for putting conditions on the HSF if they passed a special interest bill allowing it to run without an EIS, thus circumventing the separation of powers essential for the checks and balances of our democratic government.
  
  
• Lingle then negotiated in bad faith. After the Neighbor Islands had given up many of their demands, she scrapped the agreed-upon conditions and added the phrase "if feasible" to most of the conditions, rendering them useless and unenforceable.
  
  
• She has cleverly manipulated the public to make them think she was doing one thing when she was actually stripping away all the protections from the Neighbor Islands.
  
  
• Lingle has pulled DLNR agents away from their job protecting the environment to use them as free security agents for her pet buinesses - cruise ships and the Superferry.
  
  
• Lingle called on her neocon buddies, Bush and Cheney, to ship additional military personnel from the mainland to make war on her own citizens when they protested her illegal and damaging actions.
